Legislative Life
Despite its stately appearance, Virginia's State Capitol is often
buzzing with activity. Home to the Virginia General Assembly, the
building houses both Senate and House Chambers, plus the Governor's
offices.
Each year (on the second Wednesday in January), the General Assembly
meets to forge new legislation and to pass a budget. The Governor
and his administration usually propose some legislation also. On
average, over 1,000 bills get introduced in each session
but not every bill makes it to the voting floor, much less gets
passed.
